Why did you apply for the APSI National Team?
Coaching the APSI National Team is an incredibly inspiring role to me. Working with the best in our industry across all disciplines pushes me to look at snowsports in different ways and understand the needs of our stakeholders. As the research and development group for the Australian industry, it's exciting to evolve technique, research teaching methods and refine our customer service approaches to better support instructors, schools and ultimately, enhance the guest experience.
What area of the APSI are you most interested in developing?
The last Team contributed an outstanding amount to the organisation with the creation of the C.A.R.E model which will be introduced to curriculum as the new manuals are rolled out in 2024/25. There was also extensive work done on our teaching theory including the learning phases which the new team will continue to work on.
With the new team, I am particularly motivated to further evolve our technical model while focusing on developing APSI technical skills within our National Team, Technical Committees and APSI Trainers.
What do you hope to learn during your time on the APSI National team?
I'd like to learn more about the smaller disciplines so that I can provide better support and develop these disciplines in my role as the APSI General Manager.
I also look forward to the collaboration with other nations on industry trends, sustainability and DEI initiatives.
Anything else you'd like to share with members?
After only a short time with the new team, I can already see the excitement and willingness to collaborate. This is very important for our organisation and with this, I expect to see some terrific work from this group over the coming years!
