SODERGREN SCHOLARSHIP

In 1997, we established the Sodergren scholarships in memory of Mike and Mim Sodergren, very well-respected trainers/examiners that were tragically taken as a direct result of the Thredbo landslide. To read more about Mike Sodergren's involvement with the APSI, read his 'People of APSI story' HERE.

The Sodergren scholarship recognises the rising potential of snowsport instruction within our resorts and allows the recipients to further their professional development by providing all training free of charge for one season.

ONE SCHOLARSHIP IS OFFERED IN EACH OF THE FOLLOWING DISCIPLINES:

  • Alpine
  • Snowboard
  • Other (nordic, telemark, adaptive)

APPLICATIONS WILL BE ASSESSED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

  • Commitment to education, training and accreditation
  • Professionalism
  • Contribution and service provided to the industry
  • Future direction and commitment to the industry

While traditional written application process works for some, it doesn’t always give everyone the best chance to show who they really are or how they approach things. It can also be a bit too easy for AI to do the heavy lifting. That’s why we’re now only accepting video applications. It’s your chance to tell us in your own words why you deserve a scholarship and how you’ll use this opportunity to further your snowsport career.

ELIGIBILITY & IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Applicants must be a current financial member
  • Members may only apply for the Sodergren Scholarship in one discipline
  • For your application to be considered for the upcoming winter season, applications must be received by April 30
  • The decision of the board of management is final, and no correspondence will be entered into
  • The successful applicants will be announced at the Annual General Meeting and notified shortly after
  • The scholarship is current for that Australia season only
  • Applicants will be awarded marks out of five (5) based on each of the selection criterion, for a total of 20 marks
  • The top 25% of applicants will be short-listed, following which we will contact referees and snowsport schools for a reference

HOW TO APPLY

You will have to be a current financial member to view and submit an application. Please log into your MyAPSI account and navigate back to this page to access the application form below. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the APSI office: apsi@apsi.net.au
