ALPINE LEVEL 2

Our alpine level two qualification is aimed at core group lesson instructors that need to teach both beginner children and adults.

This qualification is suitable for working, level one certified instructors who wish to improve their skills and advance their teaching career.

COURSE

If you are currently employed as an instructor with a professional Snowsport School in Australia, please contact the APSI office (apsi@apsi.net.au) prior to booking into an alpine level 2 course as you may be entitled to a discount. Any applicable discount applies to courses only (not exams).

The four-day course covers the skills needed to teach beginner and lower intermediate classes up to steered parallel turns.

This course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering as used in our teaching system. 

COURSE PREREQUESITES

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Passed all units of the alpine level one exam (or have been approved for RPL)

EXAM

The two-day exam utilises both the station assessment type for skiing and demonstration tasks and the group scenario assessment type for teaching tasks. The theory paper is delivered in the weeks preceding the on-snow exam.

EXAM PREREQUESITES

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Is currently employed by a professional snowsports school (In Australia or abroad) 
  • Have completed all units of the alpine level two course
  • Have a minimum of 50 hours teaching experience
  • Have completed a minimum of 25 hours in-house training with an APSI approved snowsport school (in addition to the course)

 

 SNOWBOARD

 

SNOWBOARD LEVEL 2

Our snowboard level two qualification is aimed at core group lessons instructors that need to teach both beginner children and adults.

This course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, rider analysis, riding and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering as used in our teaching system.

 TELEMARK

 

TELEMARK LEVEL 2

Our Telemark level two qualification is aimed at instructors wishing to teach intermediate telemark progressions.

This qualification is suitable for telemark level one certified instructors who wish to improve their skills and advance their teaching.

COURSE

The four-day course covers the skills needed to teach beginner and intermediate telemark skiers up to short turns.

This course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering as used in our teaching system.

  • Passed all units of the telemark level one exam (or have been approved for RPL)

 NORDIC

 

NORDIC LEVEL 2

Our nordic level two qualification is aimed at level one certified instructors who wish to teach beginner and lower intermediate nordic skiers.

COURSE

The three-day course covers the skills needed to teach beginner adults and children up to basic skating skills.

This course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability.

  • Passed all units of the nordic level one exam (or have been approved for RPL)

 ADAPTIVE

 

ADAPTIVE LEVEL 2

The APSI level two qualification is aimed at certified adaptive instructors looking to build their knowledge and experience to teach students with physical disabilities and have knowledge of different adaptive equipment available to assist the guest participation in snowsports including seated skiing.

 

COURSE

The three-day course covers the skills needed to teach beginner students with physical disabilities.

This course covers topics such as; Disability awareness, standing and seated adaptive equipment, Independent and assisted seated skiing, adaptation to the basic progression, appropriate adaptations of the Fundamental Mechanics.

COURSE PREREQUESITES

  • Be a current APSI member (included in APSI course)
  • Own the current APSI teaching manual (included in APSI course)
  • Currently working for an APSI approved snowsports school
  • Have passed Adaptive lv1 in the previous 3 years
