Why did you apply for the APSI National Team?
I wanted to continue the progression of my snowsports career and to me the national team represents the top of the Australian snowsports industry. I'm excited to be part of the team and I am most excited about the opportunity to present the Australian system to the rest of the world.
What area of the APSI are you most interested in developing?
I've long wanted to see the way we approach freestyle be adapted to allow those who want to explore a freestyle coaching career be able to have a certification specifically for freestyle. Other systems already have freestyle certifications available to their members and I would like to see the APSI either adapt both the level 3 and 4 examination process to include a specific freestyle certification, or run a stand alone freestyle certification. This not only up skills those wanting to work more closely with freestyle athletes, but it also adds extra certification opportunities to an instructors wanting to further their experience.
What do you hope to learn during your time on the APSI National team?
I'm interest to see how other systems are relating body mechanics to equipment performance. Is there an effort for efficiency of movement to create a desirable outcome or do they put more emphasis on equipment performance and less on the movements made to achieve that level of performance.
Anything else you'd like to share with members?
I'm am thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of this amazing team and I am looking forward to experiencing other systems approaches to snowsports and bring that back to share with our community.
