Why did you apply for the APSI National Team?

I was in the Australian cross country team when I was younger. Then after retiring from competitive skiing I moved away from the ski fields, then I had kids and now they are keen skiers. I loved being back in the snow so decided to do my instructor training and from there I wanted to be part of a team again. The APSI National Team is such a privilege to be part of.

What area of the APSI are you most interested in developing?

Nordic skiing is still a very small part of the APSI and skiing in general in Australia. I am keen to increase the exposure of Nordic skiing and help it develop in to a popular choice of skiing.

What do you hope to learn during your time on the APSI National team?

I am looking forward to learning different teaching styles, methods and techniques from other Nordic instructors and especially from those outside Australia. I’m also keen to learn from alpine instructors as I believe there is a lot of cross over in teaching principles and learning approaches.

Anything else you'd like to share with members?

Nordic skiing is a great complement to alpine skiing. It is great for fitness and balance. It is a different but rewarding way to see a different part of our snowy mountains. A perfect way is to start the day with a 30-40 minute cross country ski in the early morning.
