Winter Week is an exciting new lineup of professional development days for members working in the resorts across Australia! There is a range of topics on offer that develop your skills in all aspects of instruction. The interesting array of topics have been built around APSI Trainers and APSI National Team members who have just returned from the Interski congress in Levi. Grab a friend and choose a topic or Trainer that looks interesting. You can book one or multiple days and each day counts as an update for your certification (providing that you own or purchase the current teaching manual).

PRICING & HOW TO BOOK

All Winter Week events are $165 for the full day of training and are packaged with 1 year membership. If you already have 2023 membership ($175) then this will be deducted from the total.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Winter Week Days count as a certification update providing that you have a current manual. If you do not have a current manual then please purchase one separately HERE.
  • To attend Winter Week, you must be currently employed by a snowsports school.
  • All APSI products are subject to reaching the minimum numbers required to operate. If minimum numbers for this event are not met 7 days prior to the commencement of the event, the event will be cancelled. Please consider this if booking travel/accommodation for this event.
  • *Freestyle Camps that will operate at the NTSC Airbag facility in Jindabyne will also include NSTC access fees. Adaptive Level 1 course will be the regular Adaptive level 1 course/exam price.

Day 1 kicks off with a bang as you hit the snow to learn new maneuvers and fine-tune your existing skills under Oscar's expert guidance. With personalised coaching and applied tools aimed at conquering the fear barrier, you’ll quickly progress and gain the confidence to step outside your comfort zone. 

Day 2 is all about putting your newly acquired skills into action! The terrain parks of Thredbo become your playground, where you'll have the chance to showcase your style and conquer the challenges that lie ahead. In the afternoon, the Airbag awaits, offering a safe and thrilling environment to take your tricks to new heights, pushing the boundaries of what you thought possible.

This two-day camp requires participants to be current Snow Australia or NTSC members ($70). You can purchase NTSC Membership HERE.

SHORT TURN CAMP

Join APSI National Team Head Coach, Paul Lorenz, at this unique Short Turn Camp! This camp is tailored to instructors seeking to elevate their short turn technique and short turn teaching abilities. With a comprehensive focus on short turn mechanics and skier improvement, participants will engage in specialized short turn exercises designed to hone their skills and deepen their understanding. The camp's dynamic approach includes hands-on instruction, personalized feedback, and video analysis, ensuring participants grasp the nuances of this short turn technique.

 

DEMONSTRATIONS AND MA TRAINING

Thursday 24 August | Matt Smith | Alpine

This clinic will focus on basic christie, wedeln and parallel demonstrations during the morning. Alpine Technical Member, Matt Smith will provide plenty of opportunity to practice while receiving individualized feedback. Various drills and activities will be incorporated to address specific issues with skills, basic position, turn shape, performance and transition. Through repetition and progressive challenges, Matt will improve your technique. 

In the afternoon, Matt will lead an MA session that will assist with your analysis of intermediate and advanced skiers. Matt will highlight visual indicators to determine the weakest skill and share his methods to address these skill deficiencies.

ADAPTIVE LEVEL 1

24/25 August | Tom Hodges | Adaptive (open to all disciplines with min. L1)

Join Adaptive Technical Director, Tom Hodgers on the APSI adaptive level one certification. This course is aimed at people who are already certified instructors and interested in entering the adaptive snowsports world for the first time. It is designed to complement your knowledge of alpine skiing, telemark skiing or snowboarding.

The two-day course covers the basic skills needed to teach the introductory alpine/snowboard/telemark sessions to individuals with cognitive and intellectual disabilities as well as teaching those with visual limitations.
