CERTIFICATION UPDATE

 

It is important that our previously qualified instructors keep their qualification up to date and current! We do this by providing a review of the latest APSI teaching methods, skiing/riding technique and customer service approaches. We also provide information on new training resources and technology that the APSI has available to members.

When does my Certification Expire?

Your certification expires on the 31 December, 2 years after the year you achieved it. For example, if you achieve a certification (or attend a certification update in 2025), your certification will expire on 31 December 2027. If your certification has expired, you will see the word ‘lapsed’ in red next your certification on your digital membership card in your profile.

How can I update?

You can update your qualification by completing one of the following:

ATTEND A COURSE OR EVENT

Attending an APSI course or event will automatically update your current level of certification.

UPDATE DAY

The update day will cover specific changes and updates to your level of certification and will focus on the following areas:

  • Skiing/riding through the exam tasks at your current certification level
  • How to teach mechanics and not methods
  • Introduction to educational resource changes
  • Skier/rider improvement

HOMESTUDY

A homestudy is ideal for instructors that are currently working, either in Australia or overseas, and cannot attend a course or spring sessions.

You will receive further instructions once you're registered but there are two components to the homestudy:

  • online quiz (approx, 30 mins) and
  • 6 hours of on-snow training (in your resort, to be signed off by your trainer)

Alpine Homestudy

Alpine Homestudy

The home study is for members with certification that is about to expire or has already expired and are wanting to update. The homestudy is one module in the certification update along with:

  • Completion of 6 hours of on-snow training. This training must be in-house training provided by a professional Snowsports School and signed off by the Trainer or Training Manager (when the homestudy is purchased, the "Homestudy training sheet" will be added to your MyAPSI resources for downloading and printing).
  • Completion of an E-learning course at the certification level that you are updating or a higher.  

Once the above is complete and your Homestudy Training Sheet has been submitted, the APSI office will update your certification.

Snowboard Homestudy

Snowboard Homestudy

The homestudy is for members with certification that is about to expire, or has already expired and are wanting to update. The homestudy is one module in the certification update along with:

  • Completion of 6 hours of on-snow training. This training must be in-house training provided by a professional Snowsports School and signed off by the Trainer or Training Manager (when the homestudy is purchased, the "Homestudy training sheet" will be added to your MyAPSI resources for downloading and printing).
  • Download and complete "Snowboard Homestudy Test" . Once completed, please send it to the APSI office apsi@apsi.net.au.

Once the above is complete and your Homestudy Training Sheet has been submitted, the APSI office will update your certification.
