Telemark level 1

Telemark Level One

Our telemark level one certification is aimed at people who are interested in entering the snowsport industry for the first time or for APSI certified instructors who need a second discipline for their ISIA card application.

Course

The telemark level one course is our introductory course.

The two-day course covers the skills needed to teach first time, beginner telemark skiers (specialising in teaching children) up to first telemark turns.

Course Prerequisites

  • Be a current member (included in course package)
  • Own the current teaching manual (included in course package)
  • Be 15 years of age at the commencement of the course
  • Minimum intermediate skier ability (can make telemark turns on blue runs)

Exam

The telemark level one exam is conducted in a training day/continuous assessment format during the two-day course.

Telemark level 2

Telemark Level Two

Our Telemark level two qualification is aimed at instructors wishing to teach intermediate telemark progressions.

This qualification is suitable for telemark level one certified instructors who wish to improve their skills and advance their teaching.

Course

The four-day course covers the skills needed to teach beginner and intermediate telemark skiers up to short turns.

This course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering as used in our teaching system. 

Course Prerequisites

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Passed all units of the telemark level one exam (or have been approved for RPL)

Exam

The one-day exam utilises both the station assessment type for skiing and demonstration tasks and the group scenario assessment type for teaching tasks. The theory paper is delivered online in the week preceding the on-snow exam.

  • Have completed all units of the telemark level two course
Telemark level 3

Telemark Level Three

Our telemark level three qualification is aimed at those wishing to teach more advanced telemark progressions.

This qualification is suitable for experienced, level two certified instructors who would like to teach more advanced progressions.

Course

The five-day course covers the skills needed to teach intermediate telemark skiers from intermediate up to advanced telemark turns and how to introduce guests to situational skiing.

The course covers topics such as; class handling, safety, technical information, skier analysis, skiing and demonstrating ability all based around the performance of steering and carving as used in the Australian teaching system.

Course Prerequisites

  • Be a current member
  • Own the current teaching manual
  • Passed all units of the telemark level two exam (or have been approved for RPL)

Exam

Telemark level 4

Telemark Level Four

Our telemark level four qualification is aimed at experienced, level three certified instructors who wish to teach advanced lessons and work towards becoming a telemark instructor trainer.

The level four qualification is delivered utilising a flexible, modular style of training and assessment.

Candidates wishing to participate in our telemark level four program are encouraged to contact the telemark technical director to discuss their eligibility and to set up an individual training program.
