Record Applications Highlight APSI's Commitment to Advancing Women in Snowsports

The APSI continues to lead meaningful change across the Australian snowsports industry, with its Advancing Women in Snowsports (AWS) Scholarship attracting a record 27 applications in 2026, surpassing last year's then record of 19 applications. Applications closed on 31 July, and the selection panel now faces the enviable challenge of choosing from an exceptionally strong field of candidates.

The AWS Scholarship provides financial support to women pursuing APSI Level 3 and Level 4 certifications while recognising leadership, professionalism and a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the industry. By reducing financial barriers and encouraging more women to pursue advanced qualifications, the initiative is helping build a stronger and more diverse instructor workforce.

The impact is already evident. Women represented 42% of the 2025 Alpine Level 4 examination field, with 63% of successful candidates being women. Similarly, 62.5% of APSI's newly appointed Rookie Trainers were women, selected from a candidate pool that was 44% female.

These results demonstrate that targeted investment in professional development is creating greater confidence, opportunity and representation, strengthening not only the careers of individual instructors but the future of the Australian snowsports industry as a whole.
