1. Entry Level Course and On-line ePrep Module

The on-line Entry Level ePrep module is mandatory and is part of the preparation required for attending the 3 day on snow course. It will guide candidates through key concepts and terminology covered during the course. Successful completion of the ePrep module requires a 75% result on multiple choice tests in the application. If this is not completed before the course, coaches will be required to complete it, or a paper version, as homework during the evening after day 1 on course. The module will take about 3-4 hours to complete and can be done in as many sittings as you like. The application "remembers" where you left off.

The 3 day Entry Level course include free ski and gate drills for SL and GS, teaching and learning principles, planning a day, ethical decision making. practice and safety considerations. Practice coaching sessions are part of the course for each candidate.

The evaluation portion of the course assesses the candidate's ability to demonstrate free skiing skills. Candidates must pass the skiing evaluation to successfully complete the course. Re-evaluations for skiing are available.

CSCF Entry Level - Trained status
is awarded on successful completion of the task 1 above.

Coaches are now:

  • full members of the APSI/CSCF/SSA
  • eligible for all APSI, CSCF & SSA member benefits and programs

2. NCCP Make Ethical Decisions On-line Evaluation

Anytime after completing the CSCF Entry Level course you can log on to the Coaching Association of Canada web site at http://www.coach.ca/ to complete the evaluation.

BEFORE you register for this on-line evaluation, you will need:
- a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) number and
- an NCCP COACH account.

NCCP numbers are assigned by the Coaching Association of Canada on first time entry into the NCCP database in Ottawa. This usually occurs after CSCF submission of Entry Level course results to the NCCP database. This can take up to 2-3 months following completion of the course. If you have previously taken other NCCP courses you will already have an NCCP number.

The CSCF highly recommends that all coaches do the “make ethical decisions” on-line evaluation as part of completing this Entry Level Coach Learning Guide and Journal. Keep your Entry Level course Reference Material and review the Make Ethical Decisions section prior to registering for the on-line evaluation.

3. Entry Level Mentor Program and Practical Coaching

The coaching practicum is completed during a season of coaching in an Entry Level ski racing program in a club or ski school under the guidance of a local Entry Level mentor-evaluator. This involves the completion of the Entry Level Coach Learning Guide and Journal while coaching. The journal covers a number of practical aspects of coaching as well as an on hill coaching evaluation by the mentor-evaluator. Check with your club or ski school for mentor availability.
Candidates receive the Journal at the 3 day Entry Level course.

CSCF Entry Level - Certified status
is awarded on successful completion of tasks 2 and 3 above.

Certified Advanced Status Programming

CSCF Entry Level - Certified Advanced status
