Interski

Interski

Interski is an informative exchange of technique, methodology and cultural style that attracts not only the best snowsports instructors from 36 nations but also the ski media, industry specialists, equipment suppliers and thousands of participants.

The first Interski was held in Zurs Austria in 1951 and has been repeated every four years; Australia has attended all available congresses since 1991.

Under the Interski umbrella is the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA), of which we are a member. It is through this association that our members can obtain international recognition and employment overseas.

The latest Interski conference was held in Korea, 27th of January to the 3rd of February 2007. During this time, National teams shared their techniques and love of snowsports through workshops, lectures, demonstrations and keynote presentations. And for three nights from 8 pm to 10 pm a snowsports show was used to express their creativity and skills practiced over the past 4 years.

There was also a new addition to the program called ISS (Interski Ski School). It was run over 3 mornings & gave all who were interested a chance to learn from some of the worlds best instructors.

32 nations plus representatives from the ISIA, IVSS & IVSI attended making this the second highest participation of any Interski. The event was documented on Korean SBS and aired their during a 1 hour special on Sunday the 4th of February.

Our Theme at Interski was Australia, experience the difference”.

Over the week this theme allowed us to reveal; our country, our culture, how our teaching has evolved, our philosophy, our mechanics and what it is that makes snowsports in Australia so unique.
