Level 3 course

Aim:
The aim of this course is to train experienced ski instructors in advanced ski skills and techniques and impart the relevant knowledge of ski instruction for teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers in a safe, effective and professional manner.

Prerequisites:

  • Be a current APSI member;
  • Own the current APSI Nordic teaching manual;
  • Hold a Nordic Level 2 Instructional qualification or gained exemption from the Nordic Technical Director.
  • It is expected that intending participants would have Nordic track skied for at least 10 seasons and have taught at least 100 Nordic ski lessons over at least five seasons.

5 days.

Assessment guidelines:
Students are to be briefed that there will be three key competency areas of assessment.  They are:

  • Skiing skills ? examined on snow during an Exam Day
  • Instructional Technique ? examined on snow during an Exam Day
  • Workbook ? This can be completed during the course and handed to the Trainer at course completion or completed post course and sent to the Nordic Technical Director for assessment.

All three key competency areas must be successfully demonstrated/completed at the required level to be considered as having attained Level Three Nordic Ski Instructor status.
