Level 3 course
Aim: The level 3 course is very intensive 10 day training program. This course has been specially designed for advanced riding skills and advanced teaching concepts. The course has been split into 2 separate 5 day courses that can be attempted in either one year or over a two year period.
Prerequisites:

Be a current APSI member

Own the current APSI teaching manual

Currently working for an Australian Snowsports School

Successful completion of all units of the APSI level 2/ACC course or equivalent
-
It is also recommended that any one choosing to sit the level 3 seek a recommendation from their local resort trainer before applying.
Duration: Block 1=5 days; covers advanced teaching concepts and demonstrations. Block 2=5 days; covers freestyle and racing technique.

Assessment guidelines: The Level 3 exam is a National exam and is held in September, swapping year to year between NSW and Victoria; it is a three day exam.
Competencies of 5/10 will need to be met in each of the following key competency areas;

Advanced teaching (simulated task)

Assignment; given out when enrolled in Block 1. Approximately 5 hours of work planning a lesson program for a specific group type.

Student riding skills analysis (video)

Race (Gs style)
-
Riding ability; 3 out of 4, chosen from (Free run, advanced bumps, Rhythm change or deep/steep/crud snow)

Freestyle demonstrating ability; 3 out of 4, chosen from (Half pipe, 360 air, fakie air with indy grab or fakie carved turns)

Demonstrating ability (Ext/Ret. Short turns, Carved long turns on race equipment, Dynamic short turns)

Theory exam sat during August at home resort. |
