Level 1 course

Aim:
The level 1 course is designed to consolidate the skills already obtained at the CC course and to help you further understand the specific technical concepts needed to teach and analyse beginner adults. It should also serve to reinforce the basic skills of free riding.

Prerequisites:

  1. Be a current APSI member
  2. Own the current APSI teaching manual
  3. Currently working for an Australian Snowsports School
  4. Passed all units of the CC assessment before attending level 1 assessment

Duration:
The Level 1 course is run in-house over the equivalent of 4 days, under (APSI) guidelines. A course is run at each of the major ski resorts and needs to be completed before the exam registration date.

Assessment guidelines:
The Level 1 exams are held in September in both NSW and Victoria; it is a two day exam.

Competencies of 5/10 will need to be met in each of the following key competency areas;

  • Adult teaching (simulated situation)
  • Student riding skills analysis (video)
  • Riding ability
  • Demonstrating ability
  • Theory exam sat during August at home resort.
