Thank you for taking your first step towards becoming an APSI
trainer. We feel that the APSI provides a great product to our
members and it is our choice of trainers that enhances that quality
from year to year.
Rookie trainer selection is a season long process beginning with
the first cut at the selection held before trainer's coordination,
followed by many training and assessment tasks that need to be
fulfilled before the exams in September. After the season the
alpine technical committee will make a decision on who will be
promoted to 'level trainer' status based on their performance over
that year.
Included is an outline explaining; what maybe expected at the
selection day, dates and a guideline of what needs to be covered
over the season. All of which should help you decide if you are
prepared enough to become a vital part of the APSI training
program.
You must register your attendance through the
shop.
2012 rookie selection day: Tuesday
5th June at TBA. Please meet at 9am, ready to ski;
SNOW dependant.
Topics that maybe covered on the day and that you will need to
be prepared for include;
- Freeski ability
- Demonstrating ability (Level 1 & 2 demos, including
basic christie)
- Level 1 theory
- Level 1 analysis
- 2-5 minute talk/discussion on one of the 9 essentials (your
choice)
- Interview

freeski and demonstrations will be reassessed later in the
season.

trainer
- The technical committee may recommend promotion of a rookie
trainer to level trainer prior to completion of the above
requirements, subject to approval from the APSI board of
management-executive
- Areas covered do not need to be at the level 1 in-house course,
any in-school training will fulfil the requirements
- If any of the above requirements have been previously attained,
your resort training coordinator can sign you off as 'completed',
allowing you to move onto the next step
Good luck, enjoy the experience and contact me at alpine@apsi.net.au if you have
