Introduction and History
The Australian Professional
Snowsport Instructors Inc. (APSI) is a not-for-profit association
representing approximately 1000 members. Our members include
Alpine, Snowboard, Nordic, Telemark and Adaptive instructors,
coaches, examiners and other snowsports industry
professionals.
APSI was formed in 1976 when we
received government and international recognition as the Australian
industry leaders for providing training and assessment to ski
instructors. In 1985 we became responsible for the training and
accreditation of all Australian Snowsport Instructors.
Our goals
APSI is dedicated to providing our
members with the highest quality educational training,
accreditation services and products which directly contribute to an
exceptional guest experience.
These services are delivered with a
sense of enjoyment, friendliness and pride, whilst continuously
evolving to meet the demands of the Australian Alpine resorts and
their guests.
Our highly skilled members are
committed to exceeding guest expectations, by building
relationships that leave a lasting memory of a uniquely Australian
experience.
How we achieve these goals
Our goals are achieved by having
committed people in the right roles.
An elected board of management
considers all executive decisions whilst the day to day business of
the APSI is conducted by 1 full time employee; Andrew Rae, Training
and Programs Director.
We have elected technical committees
for each discipline that recommends the future directions for our
teaching system. There are a further 80-100 trainers/examiners
employed on a seasonal basis each year to run courses and
exams.
